Truth be told, the President will have very little control over gas prices and the best way to have secure retirement funds is to get the Government's paws out of it and let you control your OWN retirement funds.

The best way to have ANY positive effect on gas prices is to increase the value of the dollar. Gas prices could remain relatively "high" for the rest of the world but if the dollar's value rises against other currency it will end up costing less at the pump. The best way to do this is to get solid currency backing (gold or silver) behind the dollar to reverse the deflation that's been occurring with the current "fiat money" Federal Reserve notes.

One of the unfair realities is that Social Security benefits are taxed. WHY? Those funds have ALREADY been taxed as income when they were first earned..what entitles Uncle Sam to a second helping? Another unfortunate truth is that the social security trust fund is NOT safe from Congress. There is no law or regulation specifying that the money may not be used for any other purpose than paying out benefits.

Ron Paul would address these issues by offering a hard money alternative to Federal Reserve notes and in the form of H.R. 191 (banning taxation on S.S. benefits) and H.R. 219 (S.S. fund is used ONLY to pay benefits.) He also favors keeping illegal aliens OUT of the fund by mandating that only American citizens may receive S.S. benefits. (H.R. 190)
References :
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/social-security/ S.S.

To lower gas prices they could eliminate all state and federal gas taxes. That won't happen.

If you are talking about Social Security they will have to continue paying out even if it bankrupts the country, though they might raise the retirement age. Again.
References :
See, you wanting something done that is GOOD for the US, we cant talk about that, cause, in truth, none of them can do it. As long as we use gas, we are over an arabs' barrel, and as long as our companies keep closing, our retirement is in danger as well.
References :
Which candidate has a good plan to lower gas prices FAST and secure retirement funds?
These are my 2 main issues when I vote. Which candidate has a good plan to lower gas prices FAST and a plan to secure retirement funds? Please also describe the plan for both.
